I was in shock when I found out that Captain Phil Harris of Deadliest Catch had passed away at the young age of 53. I knew he had suffered a stroke, but just 4 days ago, he was said to be doing well. If you know me, you know that my absolute favorite TV show ever is Deadliest Catch. Captain Phil has always been my favorite Captain on the show and I will miss hearing his scruffy voice. My heart goes out to his sons and the rest of his family. He seemed like such a fun and loving guy.
Fisherman's Prayer
God grant that I may live to fish,
until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord's safe landing net,
I'm peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged,
As big enough to keep.

RIP Captain Phil, you'll be sorely missed.

What a sweet post and poem. xoxo
My husband told me about this last night, I hadn't even heard about the stroke so was very surprised and sad. I love this show! It's crazy...I SWEAT watching it because it's SO intense! These guys are awesome! We lived in Puget Sound area so the ships were around often and some of the guys even came on base to sign autographs, they drew quite a crowd!

This was so sad. He really did seem like a great guy. Praying for his family!
My husband and I live in Charleston and he used to work on a fishing boat so this was his favorite show. I could not imagine having a husband, son, brother, father working on a ship like this. Too scary.

My sister and niece loved him too. I have never watched the show but i'm always sad to see someone pass away at a young age. :(
