RIP Farrah...

It broke my heart to hear that Farrah Fawcett had passed away. Cancer is very evil. It robs people of joy, peace, happiness and health. To all the survivors, congratulations and count your blessings. To those that are currently fighting any type of cancer, no matter how cliched it may sound, keep fighting, never give up.

God blessed me and cured me of Ovarian Cancer when I was only 19 years old. Losing my ovaries was a very small, and happily paid, price for my life! Why was I was one of the "lucky ones"? I'll never know.

My little brother was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia when he was only 3 years old. I watched him go through chemo, radiation, spinal taps, surgeries etc for 3.5 years. It did not look good for several years, and there were times they were not sure he would survive. Then, when he was almost 7 he went into remission. He is now 28 years old, healthy and the father of the two most precious boys in the world...my nephews!

If you know someone struggling with cancer today, please say a special prayer for them. To find out that someone has died from this wretched disease is always hard to hear, but for someone with cancer it's extra scary.

My life changed forever on December 23rd 1995. I passed out when my mom told me the news. Let me tell you, nothing, and I mean nothing, will put your life in perspective like the three words I hope none of you ever have to hear: you have cancer.

From that experience, I have learned life is not to be taken for granted. My thoughts are with Farrah's friends and family, and with the families and friends everywhere, who have lost someone to the evil that is cancer.

Fave Five....

Here is a list of 5 things I'm loving at the moment:

1. John Frieda Color Renew Tone Enhancing Shampoo. This stuff saved my sun-ravaged hair after a week at the beach. I highlight my hair blonde and after being out in the sun for long periods of time, it can turn very brassy. This stuff fixes that right up, and smells great too.
2. Capri Sun! I know I'm not 5, but this stuff is great at the pool! It stays super cold. Lemonade and the Roarin' Waters variety are my favorites! Not to mention it's super cheap--$1.97 for 10 pouches at Target.
3. Soffe shorts. I used to wear these back in my cheer days and thankfully, my cellulite hasn't taken over so much that I can't still wear them today. I practically live in them during the summer. So comfy, and very affordable! Now, if only I could still do a Herkie, but it ain't happenin' *sigh*.
4. Twitter, UberTwitter for Blackberry, and TweetDeck! Obsessed, I tell ya. I have to admit, when I first joined Twitter, I wasn't sure if I would keep up with it. I didn't get the whole status update thing going on all day. Now? I love reading people's updates and being able to have mini conversations with people from all over the world.
5. And I love, love, love that I only have 40 days until the big move!! YAY!!

Hope you're having a great Monday!

Lazy Sunday....

I'm back from vacation and I had a wonderful time! It was so nice to have nothing to do each day except lounge on the beach or lie by the pool. I am definitely a pool girl. I spent most of my time at the resort pool on my pink float with a cold drink in my hand. It was heaven! I'm also off until Friday, so I plan to continue my pool streak this week at the apartment pool!

Today, I'm just really happy! I'm thankful for so many different things in my life and it would take me years to list them all here. But one of the obvious, on Father's Day, is my wonderful daddy!

He is the kindest, sweetest, most hard-working man I've ever had the honor of knowing. I love my daddy with all of my heart and I'm so happy that I will always be his "Princess".

I love you daddy! Happy Father's Day!

Officially...

...on vacation (starting tomorrow)! I will not be blogging during vacation, but will still be reading and commenting from my Blackberry. I'll be back soon. If you need me, I'll be here with a Pina Colada in my hand, and Tom Petty blaring from my iPod:
I'll miss you!
Smooches,

I received this in an e-mail and thought I'd share it here. Feel free to use it if you choose! Hope you have a great Monday!

If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
Drew

Would you drink an entire bottle of hot sauce for $1000?
I love hot sauce. Not sure if I love it that much, but I'd probably do it.

Last run-in with a cop?
Hmmm...well, since I am one, my boyfriend is one and I work with over 100 of them, I guess it would have to be everyday. But since I'm sure this question means something else, I got a speeding ticket in 2000--that was my last run in with the cops. In '02 I became one.

Cherry Dr. Pepper with real cherries. You know if you request real cherries they will put them in!

Birthday parties!!

Today is my nephew's one year old birthday party! He is such a sweet little guy, always ready with a kiss for his aunt. I love him so much, my heart just melts every time I see his face! I'm so happy to have him be a part of my life, but I'm also sad that is growing so very fast. I wish my nephews came with a "pause button"!

After B's birthday, one of my best friends is having her 24th birthday party! I'm excited about this party as well. G is one of my dearest friends and she is nothing short of fabulous!

Here is what I'm wearing:

Forever21 earrings. They were only about $4!

Kohl's has this amazing shirt on sale for $20! I wear way too much black, but it's slimming color right?

My favorite jeans!

These shoes are from piperlime.com. They are very comfortable and give this shorty a bit of height.

Little cubs and TIGERS!

Today (in 6 hours actually) I will be babysitting the loves of my life--my nephews! We are going to spend the day playing outside in the sprinkler and on the trampoline! Here's what I'm wearing:
My new shirt from my favorite store in Clemson: Tiger Town Graphics! They have, in my opinion, the best selection of CU apparel and the best prices. I'm not affiliated with them, nor do I know anyone who works there, I just love the store! It's a plus that they are super friendly there, also!
These shorts are from Target. They aren't as short on me as they look in this picture--promise. My cellulite would not allow such a blatant display. Just sayin'.

Seriously, these are some of the most comfortable flip-flops I've ever worn. Yes, they are very orange. That's the point right? You can get a pair here!

Though I, sadly, did not go to college at Clemson University, I grew up in Clemson (you can here the band play on game day from my parent's back yard), and still live there. I love, love, love Clemson and everything about it! **My sister in law just got her Masters from Clemson, so I'm sure she'll approve of my nanny-ing outfit today! :)

Goooooo TIGERS!!!!

Random-ness and incomplete sentences.....

Today shall be spent laying (or is it lying) by the pool.

I need a little bit of a tan, for I am leaving for a beach vacay in 13 days.

I'd rather not blind the masses of Myrtle Beach with my fluorescence.

This weekend at work was pure hell.

I don't know how else to put it.

I encountered some strange, strange individuals this weekend.

I'm still a little creeped out.

I also have a confession to make.

I watched High School Musical 1 & 2 this weekend.

Ummm...I loved them.

Both of them.

Is that wrong?

I don't think I'm ever going to grow up.

I'm kind of OK with that.

Oh yeah, while we're in the spirit of confessing.....

I like Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus too.

Yeah.

I know.

Barf.

And......

I'm 6 days closer to getting the heck outta here and into my new apartment!

So excited!
