*sigh*
Ya'll, it's official...I'm boring. Utterly boring. I have nothing to blog about, nothing to talk about and nothing exciting to report. I think I'm in the midst of the Winter Blahs. I typically love cold weather, but I'm kind of ready for spring. The dreary weather and lack of sunshine mixed with the state of our economy has me looking forward to some warm sunshine and green leaves on the trees.
The economic news around here just keeps getting worse and worse. Our local school districts are now requiring 5 day furloughs for employees and pay cuts for teachers! I am a former teacher and pay cuts? Really? The teachers already pretty much work for free. It just makes me so angry! We have these stupid assclowns like John Thain, the executive at Citigroup, decorating his office for over 1.2 million dollars?!? While our TEACHERS have to worry about their jobs? WTF? Oh, and Mr. Thain, just FYI--instead of spending all that money on a rug for your office, maybe you should seek out a dentist and have those teeth worked on. Especially since you don't have much going for you in the looks department anyway.
And I just saw on the news about the man who killed his entire family and himself due to losing his job in LA! That's it, I'm done with the news.
I have a stable job and I'm beyond thankful for it. But I am so sad and concerned for the people who are losing their jobs on a DAILY basis. It's frightening, really. I know there is nothing I can do, and that is frustrating.
I think it's safe to say, I am grouchy Debbie Downer today. Sorry.

~List~
~HPB and I went on a date last night to Cracker Barrel and to see Paul Blart: Mall Cop! The movie was hilarious and Kevin James is adorable!
~HPB and I love Cracker Barrel! My sister-in-law makes fun of us for always going there, calling us "old people". Ha! I could eat there everyday. I get Eggs In The Basket (over easy) with bacon and hashbrown casserole. Delish!
~Today, HPB and I are going grocery shopping together for our respective apartments (we don't live together). I like grocery shopping with a partner. And, it helps that he's cute!
~I have become such a freaking home-body lately! I swear, I'm like a hibernating bear--just snuggled in pajamas and under my down comforter. I come up for food and showers and retreat right back. I kind of like it.
~I've been off of work since last Friday and do not have to return until Friday night! I took an impromptu vacay!
~I have really enjoyed having cold weather for a change! Though, I'm finding myself looking forward to springtime.
~Tonight for dinner, I'm making Red Beans and Rice. Here is the recipe! This is one of my favorite foods. I serve it with a fresh salad. Yumm!
~I babysat my 3 year old nephew on Monday morning for a little while. While I was driving there, he called me to tell me to "be careful and wear my seat belt". Just when I thought I couldn't love him anymore....
~I really need to get back in the gym. Really. And a tan wouldn't hurt either.
~Fresh highlights will be in my hair on Monday. Roots are torture.
~I hope ya'll have a great day!

Dear Mr. President...
Dear President Obama,
Congratulations on taking the Oath of Office today! May I just say, you looked very dapper on that platform. Your wife was stunning and your two beautiful girls are adorable. Mr. President, I didn't vote for you, but wanted to say a few things to you, if I may. First of all, though I didn't vote for you, you still have my utmost respect and loyalty. I will pray for you and your family that God will guide you in your decision making for our wonderful Country. I will always give you the benefit of the doubt and remember that you are doing a job I could never do. It has been very disheartening to hear and read some of the ignorant, hateful things that have been said and written about you by opposing parties and faiths today. It's my opinion that you deserve respect from every citizen of this country regardless of who they voted for. So, I just want you to know, you have my respect and admiration. Your speech today was amazing and I had chills watching the Inauguration ceremony. I am very, very proud to be an American. Today, history was made. I'm glad that I participated with a bipartisan attitude. While I don't agree with all of your policies, it's my sincere prayer that you hold the best interest of this Country's citizens close to your heart during your term as President. These are very trying times for Americans. So, in closing, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for stepping up and promising to lead this Country to the best of your ability. And as you said, "with eyes fixed on the horizon, and God's grace upon us", let us go foward, together, and make this Country better than it's ever been. God bless you, your family and our great Nation.
Sincerely,
The Pink Owl

Weekend To-Do List:
It's the weekend for me, as I have worked the past two days and am now off until Monday night. It was a boring two days. I guess the cold kept the bad guys at bay. Today, Hot Police Boy and I are taking 'ol Wiggly Teeth (aka: Jackson, my 3 year old nephew) to Chuck E. Cheese! He is sooo excited--and, truthfully, so am I! I love Chuck E Cheese! After that adventure, I plan on relaxing the rest of the weekend. It's super cold here-14 degrees this morning-and I am loving it! Snuggly jammies, lots of movies, and chili in the crockpot are in order for this weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Smooches,
K~
p.s. What a spectacular story, that plane in the Hudson!! Thank God the passengers had a wonderful Captain flying. They are all very lucky.

Wha?!?
So, tonight I went to my brother's house to visit with my little nephews. Shortly after I got there, my brother asked Jackson (the 3 year old) to tell me what happened at "school" (the babysitters) today.
Jackson then told me that he bit someone! Jackson has never bitten anyone. Ever. So I gave him a gentle little talking to (like only an aunt can do). I asked him why he bit "A" and this is what he told me:
"Kwissy, I weally dent mean to bited "A". It was an assident. See, my mouf just opened weally big and my teef started to wiggle. And dey wiggled forward wight to "A"s thumb and dey just chomped down. See, I couldn't help it. It was my teef's fault. Dey wiggle too much."
Ummm....yeah. So, I had to leave the room because I was about to laugh in front of him. I went upstairs and laughed so hard I was crying.
That little runt bit the piss out of another kid, but damn if his "reason" wasn't creative and funny! Ahh, just like his aunt! ;)

Nothing...
and I mean nothing, can ruin my appetite like An n Coul ter (the space is b/c I don't want people googling that witch and finding my blog). That woman is all kinds of crazy and she makes me sick. She is so full of hate. And....if she's so damn conservative why the hell does she dress like a stripper?
This is just my opinion. I'm not asking you to agree or disagree. If you like her... fine. We can still be friends. Maybe. I'll just question your judgement.
Don't take my word for it. Just search her name on You Tube. But, don't eat first--you may vomit. Just sayin'.

This one's long....
I'm baaaaccckkkk! Did you miss me? Because I am certainly missing all of you! During the holidays it seems like a lot of us didn't have much time to blog huh? Well, so far this year, I have managed to completely spring clean my apartment (while my roomate is gone to New England until February). I have gotten every nook and cranny cleaned, bleached, dusted and organized. It feels fantastic to have all of this accomplished!
I will be moving to my own apartment in June and I can NOT wait! I've lived here for the past 5 years with my cousin and man have we had our ups and downs. But, she's moving to New England in June. I am so freaking excited about moving into my own apartment! I will be living in my same apartment complex but just to a one bedroom apartment. I absolutely love this complex as it is really nice and has a pool, pool house, putting green, brand new fitness center, post office, club house, car wash, storage room with each apartment and the management is beyond friendly! I know since I'm 32 I should probably be buying a house, but I have absolutely no interest in doing so. It's too permanent for me. I love the idea of when something breaks here, they fix it, they cut the grass, plant the flowers, etc. I just don't want to do any of that! I love the fact that I could pick up and move anytime I wanted (since I've lived her for 5 years, I don't have to commit to a lease anymore--I can leave anytime I want). Not that I would, or plan to leave--it's just a freeing feeling to have that option. I'm a creature of habit, so I'm not really looking forward to the actual moving part, but at least it's just across the parking lot ;). And...HPB just lives down the street from me, so it's nice! He can be messy at his crib, and I can be OCD clean at mine and we can see each other anytime in less than one minute. Seriously, one minute away!
I am also getting a kitty! I've never been a cat person, but lately they have just stolen my heart! I have been looking for the past 6 months and last night I almost adopted one from the Humane Society. She was a black and white medium hair female who was adorable. She had been declawed on all four paws and suffered some abuse. But....she was extremely snappy and was going to need LOTS of time and attention. Since I work 12 hour shifts, I didn't think it would be fair to adopt a special needs kitty. So, the search continues. I will ONLY adopt one from a shelter, Humane Society or a rescue. I'm not about to go out and buy a cat from a breeder when so many need homes.
In reference to the job that I was thinking of switching too late last year...I decided against it. I'm currently a Sergeant and run my own shift. I really enjoy this, and I feel like I'm good at it (they've let me do it for the for the past 4 years, so I guess I'm doing something right). The officers who work under me are a great team and we all get along great. So, I'm gonna stay where I am. I enjoy being a supervisor and the other position would not have afforded me this "luxury". I'm very blessed to have a job that's stable and though I may complain about it sometimes, I'm pretty content.
This post is pretty long, so if you've stuck in there with me, thanks! I'm looking forward to this year and what adventures it may bring! I should be back to regulary scheduled blogging from now on.
