It broke my heart to hear that Farrah Fawcett had passed away. Cancer is very evil. It robs people of joy, peace, happiness and health. To all the survivors, congratulations and count your blessings. To those that are currently fighting any type of cancer, no matter how cliched it may sound, keep fighting, never give up.
God blessed me and cured me of Ovarian Cancer when I was only 19 years old. Losing my ovaries was a very small, and happily paid, price for my life! Why was I was one of the "lucky ones"? I'll never know.
My little brother was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia when he was only 3 years old. I watched him go through chemo, radiation, spinal taps, surgeries etc for 3.5 years. It did not look good for several years, and there were times they were not sure he would survive. Then, when he was almost 7 he went into remission. He is now 28 years old, healthy and the father of the two most precious boys in the world...my nephews!
If you know someone struggling with cancer today, please say a special prayer for them. To find out that someone has died from this wretched disease is always hard to hear, but for someone with cancer it's extra scary.
My life changed forever on December 23rd 1995. I passed out when my mom told me the news. Let me tell you, nothing, and I mean nothing, will put your life in perspective like the three words I hope none of you ever have to hear: you have cancer.
From that experience, I have learned life is not to be taken for granted. My thoughts are with Farrah's friends and family, and with the families and friends everywhere, who have lost someone to the evil that is cancer.

Your entry made some great points. You're right, when you *have* cancer, hearing about someone dying from it is VERY scary. You block out your own "what if that's me some day?" thoughts bc it will drive you crazy.
I was also really sad to hear about Farrah...I also wrote about it. I'm so glad you and your brother are survivors. How terrifying it must have been for your parents to have 2 children fight this awful disease. But your stories provide hope for people like me :)
Take care!
I am so glad to hear that you and your brother are survivors and saddened to hear about Farrah Fawcett! I knew she had cancer but didn't know she had passed until now. God bless everyone affected by cancer in any way!
So very sad. Cancer is such a scary, sad thing. Everyone has been touched by it in some way and you are so right- we should all say our prayers for those dealing with it :(
By the way- that is so wonderful that you are a survivor, as well as your brother! I'm sorry that the two of you had to go through it, but I'm sure you're very strong people because of it!
Thanks for sharing your victorious story! And your brothers! My brother is also a cancer survivor, though we lost my father to it when I was 15. Your philosophy is a great one! Keep fighting, no matter what!!!
It is a frightening experience to have someone in you life go through cancer. My sister went through it 7.5 yrs ago. There were some very hard times (I'll never forget Father's Day 2001). She had a fever of 107 and was in the hospital having relapsed just a few days prior. I just remember crying because I being the oldest of seven siblings couldn't do anything to help. She had stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It is now 2009 and she and her daughter and her husband are in a commercial here in the Chicago area for stories that have happy endings.
She had a bone marrow transplant in Aug 2001.
Wow, you and your brother are very lucky. Thank you for sharing your story.
One of my closest friends father just got the bad news. It such a horrible disease..
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today and leaving a comment. I am so relieved I am not the only one that really doesn't understand "spring" cleaning because I do what most people consider spring cleaning just about every week.
Your comment made my day . . . thanks!
As a cancer survivor I really can relate to your post. Congrats to you and your brother!
Wow, I'll bet you have one of the most supportive, strong families! I'm glad you have all made it through such an awful disease. Poor Farrah for sure, hopefully she is in a much better place now!
