*sigh*

Ya'll, it's official...I'm boring. Utterly boring. I have nothing to blog about, nothing to talk about and nothing exciting to report. I think I'm in the midst of the Winter Blahs. I typically love cold weather, but I'm kind of ready for spring. The dreary weather and lack of sunshine mixed with the state of our economy has me looking forward to some warm sunshine and green leaves on the trees.

The economic news around here just keeps getting worse and worse. Our local school districts are now requiring 5 day furloughs for employees and pay cuts for teachers! I am a former teacher and pay cuts? Really? The teachers already pretty much work for free. It just makes me so angry! We have these stupid assclowns like John Thain, the executive at Citigroup, decorating his office for over 1.2 million dollars?!? While our TEACHERS have to worry about their jobs? WTF? Oh, and Mr. Thain, just FYI--instead of spending all that money on a rug for your office, maybe you should seek out a dentist and have those teeth worked on. Especially since you don't have much going for you in the looks department anyway.

And I just saw on the news about the man who killed his entire family and himself due to losing his job in LA! That's it, I'm done with the news.

I have a stable job and I'm beyond thankful for it. But I am so sad and concerned for the people who are losing their jobs on a DAILY basis. It's frightening, really. I know there is nothing I can do, and that is frustrating.

I think it's safe to say, I am grouchy Debbie Downer today. Sorry.

I know...it's hard not to give in to all of the bad news we hear all day long and feel a little blue.

These furloughs are getting insane. I fear that I will be hit with one before long, seeing as how we will probably get ANOTHER budget cut in February. Our brilliant governor and legislators clearly have no regard for higher education in the state of SC. No wonder we consistently rank so low in education. Frustrating.

I saw that news story on the elevator news screen this morning coming up to my office. Absolutely so sad!

You'll get out of the winter blues soon enough! Spring collections are now arriving :)

I know the news is horrible. I have stopped watching much of it and I used to be a news junkie. I think the news sometimes perpetuates - even causes - some of the things with the horrible power of their suggestion. That story about that family was so sad. Spring is just around the corner. You'll be seeing sunshine before you know it!!

The economy is so scary! It's totally understandable to have a Debbie Downer day with all the sad news on tv. It's a new year and hopefully things will get better soon. I hope you see some sunshine and have a happy day!

News is depressing.. all of it. The fact that innocent lives are being taken is sickening.. Girl- i've been down with the weather too. I left Oregon because it was like this NOv thru April! ack! i went to the gym yesterday, then sat on my couch for HOURS! hours.. As far as the budget cuts.. think of it this way.. the more cuts, the more idiots in society we get ..you'll always be employed- the idiots will just multiply .. and keep you AND my dad employed.
im off to the gym to burn some lbs..

It's okay to be a downer - it's that time of year, honestly! And this year is even tougher than most, so it's allowed! I can hardly read the stuff about the teachers because it's so awful, boo!

I'm on a self-imposed news sabbatical. The only news I am allowing myself lately is E! celebrity news. Yeah, there is no redeeming value to celebrity news, but I'm less cranky & less wigged out in general by not listening to "real" news.

Dear Debbie Downer,
I agree with every thing you said.
I've stopped listening to the news. I check headlines online, and avoid the unnecessary gloom and doom comments.
Best thing we can do is take each day as they come, be grateful for what we have and pray.
Hugs.

I know the news is getting me down.. I'm like you stable job, but the worse things get- the things I see at work are getting worse. Families in crisis.

You are NOT (and could never be) a Debbie Downer! Life sometimes just smacks us in the face. I don't watch the news either. Meh.

Completely understandable that you feel that way in these tough times. 3 of my friends have been laid off in the past 2 weeks. Scary stuff. The story in LA breaks my heart. It makes me sick just thinking about it.
